Magazine Training International’s (MTI) plans for a conference in Ghana are postponed until October 2022. The delay in the conference is due to the uncertainty of COVID-19 and its variants as they continue to affect international travel and bring up health concerns for participants, trainers, and staff.

An online training prelude to the conference will be offered in early 2022, and will consist of a six-month series of online lectures on the Foundations of Magazine Publishing. The lecture series will feature 90-minute sessions packed with lectures, case studies, discussion, and more.

Participants who attend the entire lecture series will receive a certificate. The sessions will also be open for individual registration. The lectures will offer a sneak peak into the content and a chance to meet the trainers before the Ghana conference.

The training program includes a five-day Introduction to Magazine Publishing Course followed by a one-day, limited-enrollment Hands-on Magazine Startup Workshop. The workshop will give practical help to participants as they make plans to start a new magazine or restart an existing one. Participants in the course will receive the 240-page“Introduction to Magazine Publishing” coursebook. An international team of six trainers will present.

The conference will be presented in English with simultaneous interpretation in French.

MTI provides professional development opportunities to Christians in publishing in less-resourced areas of the world. The conference in Ghana is the third training event in MTI’s 10-year training program for Africa. Prior conferences were in Kenya in 2018 and Côte d’Ivoire in 2019. MTI also offers a robust online training program of live workshops, online courses, e-books, training videos, and more.
