Christian magazine publishers face incredible challenges worldwide. Limited resources, financial hardships, and even personal danger often stand in the way of sharing God’s Word. Yet, despite these obstacles, faith-driven publishers continue to persevere—transforming scarcity into impactful stories that reach communities around the globe.
At Magazine Training International (MTI), we are committed to equipping these publishers with the training and resources they need to thrive. Our latest video, God Transforms the Struggle, highlights the inspiring journeys of Christians in magazine publishing who refuse to give up.
Gökhan Talas – Courage and faith in Turkey
In 2007, Gökhan’s office in Turkey was attacked by terrorists, and two of his colleagues were killed. The trauma could have ended his ministry, but Gökhan’s commitment to sharing the Gospel remained unwavering.
“These are not dangerous things,” Gökhan says. “They are necessary things. These people deserve to hear about the Gospel.”
Gökhan continues to publish, ensuring God’s message reaches people who might otherwise never hear it.
Francis Ayieko – Perseverance in Kenya
Francis faced uncertainty while trying to run a sustainable Christian publication in Kenya. “I groped in the darkness a lot,” he says. “Just trying to find out how best one can sustainably run a Christian publication.”
MTI’s training helped Francis overcome scarcity—of funding, resources, and guidance—allowing his publications to thrive and inspire readers with stories of faith and hope.
Joseph Benjamin – Creativity amid scarcity in India
In India, Joseph contended with shortages of funds, staff, and essential resources. “How do you overcome the scarcities of funds, of resources, of people, and continue publishing in adverse circumstances?” he asks.
MTI’s training empowered Joseph to channel his creativity into ministry. Today, his publication reaches wider audiences, demonstrating that scarcity does not limit God’s message.
Agatha Akonor-Mills – Trusting God through setbacks in Ghana
Agatha’s early publishing efforts were filled with challenges—failed printers, limited funds, and unexpected setbacks. Yet her faith never wavered.
“Whatever you take to Him in prayer, He always gives you an answer,” Agatha says. After attending an MTI conference, she learned how to navigate challenges while staying grounded in biblical principles. Today, her work continues to grow, impacting communities and inspiring other Christian publishers.
The power of passion
As Gary Chapman shares in the video, “Passion comes when you develop your relationship with God.” Joshy John adds, “Even when it’s hard, I continue publishing because I believe creativity is a calling. Every story or image has the power to inspire.”
MTI equips Christian publishers to turn scarcity into opportunity, ensuring the Gospel reaches communities around the world.
