Doing much with very little

For Joshy John, a Christian publisher and artist based in the United Arab Emirates, publishing is more than a profession—it’s a calling. For over 15 years, he has published Christian Trends, a magazine designed to inspire faith and hope through art, design, and storytelling.

But working in a less-resourced environment has meant doing much with very little. “We have passion, ideas, and vision,” Joshy says, “but often not enough funds or skilled hands to make everything happen. Many times, we have to do everything ourselves—writing, designing, editing, and distributing.”

When resources run out, faith steps in

Six years ago, financial challenges forced Joshy to stop printing Christian Trends. But rather than letting the mission fade, he moved it online. “Even with fewer resources, we continue to share stories that inspire and build faith,” he says. “When I think of the word ‘less-resourced,’ it reminds me of that journey—doing much with very little, trusting God to provide, and finding new ways to continue the work.”

Finding strength in community

Joshy first connected with Magazine Training International when he was invited to serve as a trainer. “It was such a meaningful experience,” he recalls, “because I could share my practical experiences while learning from other Christian publishers from different parts of the world.”

Through MTI, Joshy discovered that publishing is about more than producing content—it’s about communicating with purpose. “One lesson I always keep in mind from MTI is: start small, but start strong,” he says. That mindset helps him focus on message and quality over size or quantity.

Not alone in the journey

More than anything, MTI gave Joshy the assurance that he’s part of something bigger. “MTI reminded me that I’m not alone,” he says. “There are many others like me who face similar struggles, but continue because they believe in the power of words and stories to touch lives. That sense of connection gives me strength to keep going.”

A message to donors

To those who support Magazine Training International, Joshy’s gratitude runs deep.

“Your support reaches far beyond what you can see,” he says. “You are helping people like me continue to share hope through creative work. You are part of every message we send out and every life it touches.”

Your giving helps lift up publishers like Joshy—equipping them with the training, tools, and encouragement they need to share Christ’s message in the places that need it most.
