At the fall 2024 meeting, the Evangelical Press Association (EPA) Board of Directors adopted an updated code of ethics, marking a significant milestone in the association’s commitment to ethical standards in publishing. This revision follows a thorough review process led by an ad hoc committee, initiated to bring the code up to date since its last revision in 1998.

The committee, chaired by Timothy Morgan—a member of the original 1998 committee—included experienced members Jon Hirst, Warren Smith, and Ann Byle. Their mandate included addressing the ethical and responsible use of AI in publishing, refining guidelines for author-publisher relationships, and ensuring the code aligns with today’s industry standards.

For all EPA members, adherence to this Code of Ethics remains a core requirement, underscoring the organization’s dedication to maintaining ethical practices across the publishing landscape.

The Evangelical Press Association is a professional organization of Christian print and digital publications: magazines, newspapers, newsletters, and content-driven websites. EPA exists to provide inspiration, instruction, and networking to strengthen evangelical periodicals.
