Congratulations to four Magazine Training International trainers who won awards for their work at the annual convention of the Evangelical Press Association (EPA). There are two categories of awards, the Awards of Excellence that honor the best work done in EPA publication during 2021, and the Higher Goals awards that honor of the best work done in specific categories during 2021.
- Sarah Gordon of Christianity Today won an Award of Merit in the general (print) category; an Award of Excellence in general (digital); fifth place in Higher Goals, original art: digital/mixed media for “No one took Christ out of Christmas;” and third place in Higher Goals, photo feature for “The Deported.”
- Doug Johnson of Christian History won an Award of Merit in the general (print) category, fifth place in Higher Goals, feature article for “From royal saints to holy fools;” third place in Higher Goals, single-theme section or issue for “America’s book: How the Bible helped shape a nation.”
- Diane McDougall won second place in Higher Goals, freelance article for “The seeds of a martyr.”
- Sheila Seifert of Focus on the Family Magazine won third place in Higher Goals, department for “Hacks and facts;” and second place in Higher Goals, fiction for “Family Traditions.”
Sarah taught the online workshop, “Spread the love: Designing delight into your opening spread;” Doug was a writing trainer at a conference in Russia; Diane taught the online course, “Create articles that move readers;” and Sheila taught the online workshop,”Structure and SEO: An article’s foundation.”
