The crisis triggered by the coronavirus is presenting the world with unprecedented challenges. While borders are closing and ever more governments move towards declaring a state of national emergency, the European Journalism Observatory seeks to shed light on the media response to the crisis worldwide, both in countries that enjoy press freedom as well as states where media freedom is restricted.
Our international network of media scholars and journalism researchers will from now on provide insights into the coverage of the crisis as part of our GLOBAL JOURNALISM OBSERVATORY. In these difficult times, our media experts across the world will provide reliable analysis to help media professionals, media observers and media users keep abreast of media developments and public debates in other countries. Our Observatory will also contribute to efforts to counter fake news, damaging stereotypes and incorrect assumptions about how the crisis is playing out elsewhere.
