A man with a gun walked onto my Christian university campus, shot and killed one student, and wounded others. Even though the gunman was apprehended, the student body remained in shock. Reporters swarmed the campus How would a Christian reporter cover this crisis? Would this contrast with the approach of a nonChristian reporter? As we explore this case during our conference session, we will find that much depends on the questions the reporters ask and the variables they emphasize. A Christian worldview frames our existence in particular ways and highlights certain issues. Similarly, carefully-chosen questions will affect other dimensions of crisis coverage, such as the way we interview informants who hold conflicting opinions, or the way we try to write honest biographies.
