Join the team!
Christian publishing professionals and other volunteers make it possible for us to offer a broad range of training opportunities to Christians in publishing worldwide. Whether you teach a publishing course or volunteer in the conference office, you make it possible for Christians in less-resourced countries to get the professional training they need.
Training opportunities at MTI
Travel to a distant country to teach
Join an international team of trainers to teach a course, workshop, or institute on site somewhere in the world. Extensive preparation may be necessary in order to teach, but curriculum and textbooks are provided for courses. Conferences are international, and because most conference participants are staff or volunteers of existing magazines, you will meet and work with Christians in publishing worldwide.
Magazine Training International provides room and board for trainers at the conference site. However, trainers are expected to serve as volunteers and are asked to cover their own travel expenses for what is essentially a missions trip.
Teach online from your home or office
Don’t want to travel but still want to teach internationally? Lead a one-hour workshop or teach a four-week course online. Magazine Training International offers six or seven online workshops and two month-long courses each year.
Typically, trainers develop content specifically for workshops, which are recorded and afterwards offered on-demand in our resource center.
Although workshop speakers serve as volunteers, online course instructors receive a modest stipend. MTI manuals often serve as a resource for online course instructors, who may or may not follow the curriculum and assign reading from the text.
If you are interested in joining MTI’s network of publishing trainers, please email Sharon Mumper and attach your resume.
“MTI’s mission ‘to help Christian magazine publishers share Christ in every culture’ fits right in to my training emphasis. If I can help believers to sharpen their communication skills, to determine how nonbelievers think and feel, and to create appropriate communication strategies and content, then writers and publishers can touch lives that I cannot. It’s Great Commission teamwork.”
—Rusty Wright, USA, MTI trainer online
Volunteer opportunities at MTI
Serve at a conference in a foreign country
Do you love to travel and develop relationships with multi-cultural believers? Consider volunteering at an MTI conference. You may serve as an interpreter, photographer, researcher, technician, writer, driver, office worker, or in any one of a myriad of roles. MTI provides room and board at the conference site; volunteers cover their own travel expenses.
Volunteer at home or in Colorado
Can you volunteer for short-term projects or serve in the Colorado Springs office on a long-term basis? Volunteers with magazine publishing experience revise manuals, help with curriculum, and write blog posts. Other people may format manuals, do proofreading, translate resources, do research, or work in the home office.
