“During the last almost 14 years of working at Magazine Training International (MTI), I’ve gotten little glimpses of heaven as I’ve connected with Christians around the world,” shares Jennifer Howard, director of operations.
“People from many different countries and cultures share the same vision to spread God’s Word in their own context. Once they access the training available through MTI, they are able to fulfill their calling from God,” says Jennifer. “I regularly get emails from people who said they were praying for practical help to fulfill the vision God placed on their heart, and God led them to the MTI website and resources.”
Jennifer grew up loving Christian magazines. As a child and teen she enjoyed Clubhouse Jr., Clubhouse, and Brio. In high school, she wrote to Focus on the Family and asked about what kind of training she would need in college to work on magazines. She has a life-long passion for magazines and the unique way they can reach people with the Good News and help people grow in their faith. In college she studied English and creative writing, with a minor in magazine journalism.
Her parents modeled a global perspective in their home. They were always befriending people from other countries and cultures. So she has foundation of love for people from other countries that started in her childhood and has grown through her global involvement. She and her husband carry this heart for the world forward with their own children.
Since 2012, Jennifer has worked in various roles at Magazine Training International. Her work has been a great blend of skills in communications and a heart for global ministry.
Now, in this new season of the ministry of Magazine Training International, as it operates as a division of the Evangelical Press Association (EPA), Jennifer is serving as director of operations. She is taking the already robust digital training program and moving it forward.
One of the new initiatives for 2026 is micro-workshops. “We are tapping into the online culture of short, quick content to provide specific training topics in a popular format,” says Jennifer. “This will introduce new people to the resources of MTI. Then we can encourage them to engage with additional resources such as our on-demand workshops and self-guided study courses.”
Lamar Keener, executive director of MTI and EPA, underscores the value of Jennifer’s heart and skills: “Jennifer is the right person to carry forward the work of MTI as director of operations. With more than a decade of experience serving the ministry, she is knowledgeable and competent and demonstrates exemplary skills. Her faithful service is deeply appreciated.”
