Big changes are in the offing for Magazine Training International—and for me! God willing, I’m planning to retire by August 2025. Some have asked whether I’ve already retired. The answer is “no.” In a few months we will begin the process of recruiting a new leader—someone who can catapult MTI into the next season of ministry. As a result of this initiative, we have launched a fundraising campaign we are calling “Fund the Future.” Our goal is to raise $200,000 above normal expenses over the next 10 months. These funds will help cover the cost of transition and provide a salary for the new executive director as he or she settles in and picks up the reins of leadership. For the last 35 years, I have served as a missionary—and like most missionaries—have been supported by donations from friends, relatives, and church groups. For this reason, it hasn’t been necessary for me to take a salary from MTI’s normal operational expenses. However, with the transition to a new leader, MTI’s normal expenses will increase. I consider it an enormous privilege to have been able to lead Magazine Training International for the last 35 years. Since 1989, more than 100 countries have been touched as thousands of staff members of more than a thousand Christian magazines have been impacted through onsite conferences, online courses and workshops, ebooks, manuals, DVD courses, web resources, and printed books and other materials. I have great expectations for the years ahead as a new, younger leader seeks out fresh ways of delivering training and resources to those God has called to the ministry of Christian publishing. If you’ve been impressed by the ministry of Magazine Training International in the past, I would like to ask you to consider helping Fund the Future of ministry to Christians in magazine publishing around the world.
