A free seminar on “Publishing in a Digital World” will be offered this summer for international Christian publishers attending the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS) in Orlando where Magazine Training International (MTI) and Media Associates International (MAI) were asked by Christian Booksellers Association (CBA) to provide training with up-to-date information and tips from experts in digital publishing.
The nine-hour seminar will be held in conjunction with ICRS at the Orange County Convention Center from June 28 through July 1. Although the training is aimed at the roughly 350 international publishers who annually attend ICRS, the event is open to other Christians in publishing who would like to learn more about digital publishing. Seminar participants who would like access to the exhibit floor must register for ICRS.
“We are honored that MTI and MAI, both committed to international expansion of Christian media, will be at the International Christian Retail Show where people representing more than 50 countries around the world will be this summer,” says Curtis Riskey, president of CBA. “This educational work helps fuel excellent and professional Christian product distribution around the world.”
The seminar will include eight workshops on how to produce book apps, coordinate interactive eBooks and eMagazines, monetize digital content, manage the online magazine and book publisher relationship, expand the reach of products through digital marketing and advertising, prepare an online magazine business model, and create “digital buzz.”
The seminar instructors include Ron Forseth, vice president of business development at Outreach Inc., general manager of its media group, and director of advertising for Outreach Magazine; David Renard, CEO and co-founder of The Loadown, partner of mediaIDEAS, and co-creator of Stare; Dan Balow, director of publishing development and literary agent with The Steve Laube Agency; David Manning, director of audience development for Charisma Media; Julio Vientos, director of Casa Creación; and John LaRue who has spent 32 years in publishing and non-profit senior management.
Participants who attend the entire seminar program will receive a certificate of completion.
In addition to the training, ICRS attendees may receive personal consulting from the instructors at the Global Training Center located in the International MarketSquare on the exhibit floor. Consultants also include Sharon Mumper, MTI president; John Maust, MAI president; and Ramon Rocha III, director of publisher development at MAI.
Both MTI and MAI provide publisher training internationally.
MTI also offers Webinars, online courses, eBooks, video training sessions, and on-site conferences. The next on-site training program will take place in Kochi, India, 24 Jan. – 5 Feb., 2016, when MTI will offer two six-day publishing courses on magazine editing and magazine management. The courses will be offered with interpretation in Malayalam and Hindi.
