Smartphones, social media, and your magazine: Learn how to produce content and promote your publication
April 20, 2023 @ 2:00 PM – May 18, 2023 @ 5:00 PM New York
To be current and competitive in the publishing industry, journalists must be multimedia reporters, and the key to success is your smartphone. During this four-week course, Dr. Akosua Frempong, a digital, print, and broadcast media journalist, will discuss how magazine journalists can use two essential tools–a smartphone and social media.
Discover how to create multimedia content by taking photos and video with your smartphone and then disseminating the content through social media. Social media is an effective tool for the promotion of your brand or publication, but each platform is unique. Learn how to choose the best platforms for your publication and audience, and how to connect with and know what your target audience wants so you can serve them well.
Course topics include:
- Week 1: Use your smartphone for magazine content production, including videos and images
- Week 2: Create and optimize magazine content for smartphone audiences
- Week 3: Discover how to use social media for magazine content and publication promotion
- Week 4: Marketing your magazine brand or publication through websites, emails, and social media ads
