The World Health Organization reports that one billion of the world’s children experience violence and adversity. This reality for half of all children globally is a crisis in itself. However, it can be difficult to for those who want to be a voice for children to follow the facts in order to get a handle on what happens to these littlest victims in times of war, pandemics, immigration, and famine. This workshop considers how to deal with challenges to the safety and reliability of sources, as well as suggestions as to how to fully investigate the impact of crisis on children. Specific examples of reporting on orphans and vulnerable children in some current countries of crisis will be explored.
