Christian magazine publishing professionals are invited to attend the last of three events to be offered by Magazine Training International (MTI) in India. Two six-day intensive publishing courses will be held 24 January – 5 February, 2016, in Kochi, India.

Although the conference in January is MTI’s third training event in India, it’s the first in Kerala, a state with a large Christian presence and a significant number of Christian periodicals. In the first two series’ of training events, MTI offered a five-day publishing institute and a five-day advanced publishing institute, along with an intensive magazine writing course and a three-day digital publishing seminar.

In 2011 and 2012, more than 100 magazine editors, designers, and publishers from seven countries attended the training events.

“India 2016: Success in Publishing” will feature two back-to-back six-day intensive training courses. The “Editing the Magazine” course will be held 24 – 29 January, 2016. The course on “Managing the Magazine: Business of Magazine Publishing” will take place 31 January – 5 February, 2016.

Each course is designed for magazine publishing professionals who wish to learn time-tested principles and discover ways to meet the challenges of an increasingly digital future. The courses will be conducted in English with interpretation in Malayalam.

“For this third training event, we decided that the greatest need was for courses in magazine editing and magazine management,” MTI President Sharon Mumper says.

“The course on ‘Magazine Management: The Business of Magazine Publishing’ is designed to give magazine publishers the information and tools they need to establish their publications on a firm foundation.

“Our course for magazine editors will equip editors to produce magazines with the power to influence readers and effectively serve the church.”

Participants who complete all course requirements will receive a certificate of completion for each course they attend.

“I believe that a strong, healthy Christian publishing industry is essential for the spread of the Gospel, the nurture of the church, and the promotion of sound doctrine,” Mumper says.

“But, a dynamic Christian publishing industry is only possible when magazine and book publishers are strong and healthy.”

Over the last 26 years, MTI has offered courses and conferences for Christian magazine publishing staff in dozens of countries, drawing participants from around the world.
